Welcome to Thorndon Park Golf Club
Steeped in history, but with a modern feel, Thorndon Park golf course is an Essex gem. Approached from a tree-lined drive, Harry Colt's masterpiece is set amid 240 acres of an Elizabethan deer park that was once owned by the illustrious Petre family.
The course, opened in 1920, boasts lush fairways surrounded by woodland, well-drained soil and subtly undulating greens ensuring you will
play a round to remember. Individual challenging holes gently wind through the ancient woods dating back to the 13th Century.
As you play the final hole of the 6512-yard course, the magnificence of the Palladian Thorndon Hall, site of the old clubhouse, comes into view.
"Soon after I started golf at the age of 11, I was given a special treat, a round of golf at Thorndon Park. I can still remember being in awe of such a beautiful and perfectly conditioned golf course and even after all these years and the thousands of other courses I have played, Thorndon still has a special place in my list of favourite courses to play. I defy any golfer not to enjoy it."
Sir Michael Bonallack – five times British Amateur Champion, former Captain & Secretary of the R & A and a member since 1959.
Although situated little more than 2 miles from the M25, Thorndon Park provides a tranquil setting and a challenging round of golf, after which you can relax and reflect on your round in the welcoming clubhouse.
Thorndon Park Golf Club is a traditional members' club that is waiting to welcome you.
"No matter how many courses I may have played around the world, I am still totally enthralled by the quality, beauty, and peace of Thorndon Park."
Beverly Lewis – PGA Captain 2005-7, BBC Commentator and a member since 1972.
